The Writer Mum Podcast – Episode 064 – Sex Beyond Biology
Tonight I talk about schools only teaching the technical facts about sex leaves the humanity and fun of sex education being left to pornography. I discuss that girls are being expected to do things far more extreme than they are comfortable with, and boys don’t learn how to make sex pleasurable for both partners.
In tonight’s episode I talk about how important it is that we talk about it when we’re finding it hard. How sharing your fears and vulnerabilities will ensure we don’t feel alone and can welcome the help we need from others around us, and how we weren’t supposed to go through the stress and worry of child rearing alone.
Tonight I talk about the negative impact gender stereotyping has on children, and why it’s important we try to move forward as society to allow children to be children. Let toys be toys, let clothes by clothes, let kids be kids.
The Writer Mum Podcast – Episode 059 – I’m Not A Disappointment
Tonight I talk about how my life got derailed and left me as a single mum on benefits, and how I was seen as a failure and a disappointment, but how my love of writing and my motivation to give my daughter a better life has started to turn things around as I work hard to achieve my goals.
The Writer Mum Podcast – Episode 054 – Shame Them Whilst They’re Young
Today I talk about schools banning girls from wearing skirts or fitted clothes because it’s distracting for male pupils and staff. I discuss how this pattern of blaming girls for the behaviour of men starts at such a young age, and how it’s time to put an end to it.
This episode comes with a TRIGGER WARNING. I discuss female genital mutilation, how girls are put through this horrific abuse, and how we all need to be aware so more can be done to stop it. I ask that you share this, share any social media on it, and share news articles you see. Too few people are aware.
The Writer Mum Podcast – Episode 040 – Am I Joyce?
Tonight I talk about Joyce Summers, the TV mum I always swore I would never grow up to be… but how I have recently realised I’m actually mirroring a lot of her behaviour! Ironic really, considering I have a daughter named Buffy.
The Writer Mum Podcast – Episode 030 – Contraceptive Kids
Tonight I talk about the arguments against making contraception available to underage children, and whether allowing young teens access to contraception is likely to increase the chances of them having underage sex.
